Euro group president Jean-Claude Junker said Wednesday he believes the private creditors who participate in the approval of the Greek debt relief will achieve that goal, and the country will avoid the failure to pay debts.
Junker's remarks came after a meeting with European Council President Herman Van Rompuy in Luxembourg.
Athens government says it needs the banks, pension funds and other financial institutions that hold at least two-thirds of private debt of the country, approved the removal of some earlier. However, the agreement reached Wednesday to remove only 46 percent of the debt.
The elimination of some debt that must be achieved so that Greece can get a new 172 billion bailout dollars and avoid the failure to pay its financial obligations.
