Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary tour a no go but 51st on the cards

March 15, 2012

music-news.com - There will be no 50th anniversary tour in 2012 for the Rolling Stones. That's the word from both Mick Jagger and Keith Richards who say the band isn't ready to hit the road.

Never fear, though. Their are near definite plans to tour in 2013. Richards told Rolling Stone magazine that "We look upon 2012 as sort of the year of conception, but the birth is next year. The Stones always really considered '63 to be 50 years, because Charlie [drummer Charlie Watts] didn't actually join until January."

It also appears that the logistics of organizing a tour may be too lengthy a process to get a tour in this year. A source told the magazine that proposals have been received by such industry heavyweights as Live Nation and AEG.

There is also concerns among people in the industry that Richards may not be able to weather a full tour with the group, instead opting for residencies in a few major cities. A source told Rolling Stone "For example, they'd do 10 nights at MSG, 10 nights at Staples, 10 nights at London's O2 arena..."

Talent is more important than looks

music-news.com - Jessie J says singer's voices weren't that important when she became famous.

The British singer's debut album Who You Are came out last year and did well in her home country as well as in America.

She hopes she has shown that an artist's voice rather than their styling is crucial to making it in the industry.

'I'm an artist who came out at a time when vocals weren't as important. It was about what you're wearing, who you're dating and what make-up you've got on. I want people to see that first and foremost I'm a singer,' she said.

Jessie is appearing on the UK version of singing competition The Voice. She is excited about helping to discover new musical talent, but has vowed to be tough on those who are taking part.

Although she is only 23, Jessie knows how vital hard work is.

'I'm all about vocals. I train every single day. I sing every single day and that's something I want to see in someone I find,' she told Look magazine. 'I'm quite hard on them. So many have just sung to their mum and dad. Then they stand in front of me and get a bit overwhelmed. But they [all] came back and said thank you for the tough love.'
